Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D - Season Finale

Image
Well, I guess it falls on me to comment on this amazing series season finale. We can all agree that this new show has had some incredible moments and some funny ones too. I’m sure no one can forget Simmons’ outburst on the train when she yelled at Coulson, it was hilarious to say the least. However, the news of Grant being part of Hydra (a fictional organization led by the Nazi Red Skull during World War II that has infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. and caused disruption in their midst) was the big shock!

There were extraordinary episodes throughout the season, but I must say the finale wasn’t one of them. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t amazing, but after some of the episodes we’ve seen I guess I expected a bit more of shocking revelations. The episode begins with a guy from Cybertek (the company developing Deathlok) guiding a new intern through the workings of the company. After he receives a call, he shows monitors were we can see our beloved team and he orders an attack on them. Coulson orders May to destroy the place just as Skye manages to insert the Trojan horse on the computer and they scape.

Next we see Garrett with Ward and Deathlok (a.k.a. Mike Peterson) on the bus and Garrett is behaving weirdly after Flowers (a.k.a. Raina) gives him the serum that brought Coulson back to life and that saved Skye’s life. This serum has given him new abilities such as an increase of his strength and a kind of clairvoyance. Then the team finds out that Fitz and Simmons managed to bug the plane, mostly known as The Bus, but that they are MIA (not knowing that they are in a capsule at the bottom of the ocean with no way to scape). According to Garrett Skye has a bigger role to play than we imagined and that her paImagest is quiet dark.

Meanwhile, Fitz and Simmons device a way to scape, but there is enough oxygen for one. That’s where Fitz declares her love to Simmons and tells her to save herself. They manage to get free and are rescued by none other than Director Fury himself (who was presumably dead), but Fitz isn’t unharmed. He suffers oxygen deprivation to his brain and he needs time to recover.Image

Garrett, Quinn and Ward show some government officials what the Deathlok machine can do. While that is going on, Coulson and Triplett do their best to open the way for May and Skye to infiltrate Cyebertek. Skye has a surprise for the people there when the directive they give to the soldiers backfires. Because of this, Garrett orders Ward to get Skye and take her to him and that’s where Ward and May start a fist fight. However, that’s not the only fight going on… Coulson strikes Garrett and Fury makes another appearance.

Skye goes on a mission to find Mike Peterson’s son so that they can have him on their side. When she manages to send a message to Mike, the tide finally turns in our team’s favour and Mike kills Garrett. Ward is captured and restrained and Deathlok goes free and wants to make amends for his actions.

Finally, true to this series style, we have a couple of surprises towards the end… Garrett is in fact alive. Yes!! Alive!! But luckily not for long :D He manages to get himself in the Deathlok machine, once the transformation is complete, we see an explosion and BOOM!!!!! Coulson uses an alien device they had previously found and Garrett is no more. Next, after shouting at Fury for what he did to him, Coulson receives a black tool box that will help them rebuild S.H.I.E.L.D. from scratch. And that’s how Coulson becomes director of S.H.I.E.L.D. The last surprise comes after the team’s reunion… it turns out one of Skye’s parents is alive, but has a monstrous body… it reminded me of Voldemort before he got back to his body LOL. And Coulson goes a bit cuckoo towards the end.

What did you guys think?? I just hope the show remains true to its course and doesn’t turn into a mess. Share your views, we want to know what your impressions were.
