Burned of Tara Sivec

Seventeen years old when he broke my heart.

Seventeen days later when another picked up the pieces.
Seventeen years together.
Seventeen thousand problems.
Seventeen days of reliving my past and finding a new future.
Seventeen minutes until it all went up in flames.
Seventeen breaths until I took my last.
This is my story…and it’s going to burn.

I think if you look up in the dictionary the word “hot” this book should appear! This is a love story that will actually burn you!!!

After Collin McDaniels broke Finnley´s heart in senior year of high school, she met Jordan Castillo, the tipical bad boy and soon they started dating. She held off her dream of going to art school and stayed with him to build a life together. But things didn´t went
as she spected... Jordan always dreamed of becoming a tattoo artist and despite being talented he never could make it. He became an addict, first to gambling, then pain killers, alcohol, cocaine… he always promised her that he would change and Finnley gave him another chance, but one day she just had enough and she asked for a divorce. This is how the story begins…

“I looked at him, this man who had been my whole world for seventeen years, thought about all of our ups and downs and everything we´d been through together and I felt nothing. I wasn´t sad, I wasn´t angry, I wasn’t hurt… I was nothing. I was empty”

One night, Finnley goes out with her best friend Phina and there he is!!! In that bar was Collin McDaniels, no longer a teenage boy but a smoking hot fireman. And, instantly, the fire between them starts to burn.

This is a beautiful love story, and did I mention that it is very sexy and hot??? Very very very hot, you should read it next to a fire extinguisher because you can literally go up in flames. I love the fact that it´s written from Finnley and Collin´s POV. The only bad thing I could think of is that it´s a little short.

It´s the first book of the Ignite Triology and the next one will be Branded and it´s expected to be out in September .

This one is about Cole Walker, for those who read Fall From India Place know that Cole is all grown up and hot!! We can´t wait to read his book!! Here It goes:

Echoes of Scotland Street (On Dublin Street #5)

She is done with bad boys...
but he´s just so good...

Shannon MacLeod has always gone for the wrong type of man. After she drifted from one toxic relationship to the next, her last boyfriend gave her a wakeup call in the worst possible way. With her world shattered, she’s sworn off men—especially those of the bad-boy variety.

Cole Walker is exactly the sort that Shannon wants to avoid—gorgeous, tattooed, charming, and cocky. But his rough exterior hides a good man who’s ready to find “the one.” He’s determined to pull Shannon from her self-imposed solitude and win her heart.

As Shannon opens up in the face of Cole’s steady devotion, the passion between them ignites to blazing levels. But when Shannon’s past comes back to haunt her, her fears may destroy the trust Cole has built between them—and tear them apart for good…

Samantha also said:

"The story will be told, as all the previous books in the ODS series have been told, from the heroine's POV."
Unfortunately, we will have to wait till February 2015 to read it, but, as all Samantha´s books, it will be worth the wait!

The Immortal Crown (Age of X #2) by Richelle Mead

What can I say about this book??? I absolutely love it!! I still can't understand how Richelle can come up with these amazing stories and characters. She is without a doubt one of my favourite writers. But you aren't here to read about me rambling about how out-of-this world she is, so let's get to the book.

As in the first book (Gameboard of the Gods), we have three points of view.

Mae is struggling with her feelings for Justin, while at the same time she worries about her lost niece and Justin's safety and the goddess that seeks her attention. So you can see that our poor super-soldier has a lot on her plate.

Meanwhile, Justin is dealing with Odin (the god that has him under oath) and Geraki (an annoying individual that happens to be Odin's prophet), plus his work at the IS. And, at the same time, he has to worry about his family's and Mae's safety. The former because of zealots and what-nots that want to harm him through his family, and the latter because he is the one putting her in danger and because of the current war among gods. Last but not least, he is also warring with his feelings towards someone. Can you guess who?? Yes, you are right!! It's Mae. Our poor servitor really has a lot of problems.

Then we have Tessa. Tessa has finally found a school she actually fits in and that gives her freedom to pursue any project she wants. Encouraged by a member of the school she fills a form to apply for an internship. But she might get more than she bargained for.

Before I tell you more about the story, I have to tell you a little secret ;) .... I was ecstatic when I saw Argentina in the book. This is the third time Richelle has mentioned Argentina in one of her books. First she did it in Spirit Bound (book #5 in the Vampire Academy series):

"It moves throughout the year. Right now it's in Alaska. Later, it'll be in Argentina." He gave me a sly smile, apparently wondering how astute I was. "Can you guess why?"
That one wasn't exactly accurate, but it can be forgiven. Then she goes and mention it again in Gameboard of the Gods:

“All I’ve got are Argentinian reds,” he told her. “They drink that stuff like water here, but it’s pretty good.”

There Justin was referring to Argentinian red wine. And then here we find the connection again with our delicious wine:

“Please, help yourself. It’s imported from Argentina. You’re probably pretty familiar with their wines after your stay in Panama.”

So, well, you can see why I was so happy!!

Okay, now that I've taken that out of my chest... let's go on.

Justin and Mae are asked to go on an expedition to Arcadia with Lucian Darling (Justin's old college roommate who's running for consul). Justin refuses to go until Mae asks him to accept it. She doesn't tell him, of course, the reason why. The truth is that, after a weird vision she had, Mae is more certain than ever that her niece is in Arcadia and that she needs to rescue her before it's too late.

Arcadia is a twisted country, to say the least. Women are considered property and are treated more like slaves than actual human beings. While Mae is trying to find a way to get to her niece, Justin is dealing with this country's weird religious leader and the reasons behind his behaviour.

Tessa, on the other hand, is back in the RUNA. There she is dealing with a reporter that wants her to help uncover the truth behind Lucian's campaign. To do that, she has to infiltrate a youth group that works for the campaign. She unveils some information in the process that can end up hurtin Justin in the end, so she has to decide what to do with what she finds.

Back in Arcadia Mae ends up striking on her own with a group of girls she is determined to save. Justin is faced with difficult decisions and with Mae's dissapearance.

When they finally reunite the confess their mutual feelings, but they are met with the cruel reality of their situation and that leads to a horrible attack on Mae and the subsequent fallout.

I have to tell you first that I hate Porfirio with all my heart (you'll understand after you read it), and secondly, I don't have it in me to wait for the third book of the series. I need it NOW!!!!! I don't have enough words to congratulate Richelle on another espectacular book. She is a GENIUS!!!!

Gameboard of the Gods (Age of X #1) by Richelle Mead

Gameboard of the Gods

Up until I read this book I've loved each and every book Richelle has written. I thought this time it would be a bit more twisted tan usual and that I may not like it as much. Boy, was I wrong!!! This dystopian book is marvellous. It is told in three different points of view (POV): Mae's, Justin's and Tessa's.

I should start with Justin's story...

Justin was a servitor for his country, the RUNA (Republic of United North America), but after some discoveries on his part and subsequent report he was exhiled and ended up in Panama (miles away from the technological and cultural superiority of the RUNA). He was miserable and longed to go back home to Vancouver. One night four years later, he sees this gorgeous woman that he can't stop staring at and after a series of events, they end up in his place and things turn hot ;) But there's a catch, he can't have sex with her again or he'll have to do something he really doesn't want to. Imagine his shock when he is asked to come back to the RUNA and have Mae be his bodygard/protector... talk about temptation!!! He is contacted because a series of murders have everybody on edge and there's a video that shows it might be involved with religion (Justin's expertise). He manages to get a student visa for a Panamenian girl named Tessa, the daughter of one of his friends in Panama. He sees some of himself in her and wants to help her.

Once back in the RUNA, after reuniting with her sister and nephew, he and Mae start investigating the case. To do that they have to go back to some of Justin's old contacts and they meet a lot of obstacles. Meanwhile he is dealing with a "gift" that a god left for him: two ravens that talk inside his head.

Mae is another case altogether. She is a soldier for the republic and has an implant that enhances her strengh and abilities, also becuase of the implant she can't sleep. She in incredibly beautiful and an oddity. She has recently lost someone she cared about and is in a weird place. She is assigned to Justin as a kinf of punishment. As she keeps spending time with him she begins to understand him better and see the reason behind his substance abuse and amazing intelligence. But there is a dark force both helping her and clouding her mind that she doesn't understand. And the case they are working on start unravelling things and secrets from her past that are a hard pill to swallow, but that explain what she's going through.

Tessa is a 16 year-old girl that doesn't behave the way the society she lives in requiers from her. She is smart and talks when she shouldn't, and likes reading a lot. She can't see why Justin would pick her to take to the RUNA, even if it is as a favor to her father, but she agrees to go anyway. Once there she struggles to fit in in a society that is completely different from where she grew up. And she can't really shake the way she is treated because she is "provincial".

The whole investigation unearthes a lot of skeletons, but worst of all it brings to life many religious issues that are a threat to the RUNA's ideals. However, there is no way of stopping what they've uncovered and that opens the door for the next book in the series.

Mae's and Justin's relationship is bumpy and hot and you can completely see why they belong together, but Justin needs to keep her away and mad at him in order to avoid temptation as much as possible. I can't wait to see how their story continues in The Immortal Crown, book #2 in the series.

I know it sounds convoluted and hard to keep up, but you won't regret it. Once you get a hold on the story you won't be able to stop reading. And while I'm at it, I highly recommend all of Richelle's other series (Vampire Academy, Bloodlines, Georgina Kincaid and Dark Swan). Richelle is an amazing writer and I hope I get to read more of her stories.

Fall From India Place (On Dublin St #4) by Samantha Young

Last night I was supposed to go to sleep early because today I had to wake up really early, so when I started reading Fall From India Place, I only intended to read the first couple of chapters, but I just couldn´t put it down!!! And I finished it!! Let me tell you, today I am a totally zombie but this book was worth it!!!

This is the fourth book of On Dublin St series and it´s set six or seven years after the previous one. It´s the story about Hanna Nichols and Marco D´Alessandro. We met Hanna on the first book, as a teenager, and we found out about her story with Marco in the second and third.

In this book we find a twenty-two year-old Hanna, she's finished college and has started working as a teacher, but even when it seems like she moved on she never forgot Marco, her first love. Like other books of Samantha Young, this book is developed in the present but we get flashbacks where we find out more about what really happened between them. However, we dont' know the whole story until the end. This is one of the reasons you can´t stop reading it!!!

What we know from the start it´s that Hanna loved Marco, and Marco loved her back even though he couldn't admit it because of all his problems at home. They found comfort in each other. But when things started to get serious Marco left Edinburgh and went to America, leaving Hanna behind.

“when i´m with you it feels like everything´s going to be okay”

Four years later they meet again in a wedding and now Marco is determined to apologize and see if he still has a chance to get Hanna back. He is no longer the boy who was overwhelmed with his family issues, he is now a man who knows what he wants.

But can Hanna give him a second chance??? When Marco left, Hanna had to deal with the consequences of their actions all by herself. In order to have a relationship with him, she needs to get past all the bad that happened. But that’s not all of it, Marco has a really important secret and when Hanna finds out it could change everything.

This book was a great addition to this series!!! I loved every moment of it! The love story is beautiful, and I also love the fact that we find out what happen in the “happily ever after” of the previous couples and met their children.

And last but not least, we met a grown up Cole, who became a best friend to Hanna. Next book will be about him, and I am really looking forward to read it, why?? In Hanna´s words:

“A few inches over six feet, Cole was broad-shouldered and athletically built – he had an amazing body, honed in martial arts classes and weekly visits to the gym. He had messy strawberry blond hair that his sister was always nagging at him to cut, gorgeous green eyes, and a handsome face that was usually scruffy and in need of a shave…”

Worn Me Down by Tara Sivec

Worn Me Down (Playing with Fire, #3)

Okay, so this is book #3 of the Playing With Fire series by Tara Sivec. I have to say I liked this book, but not as much as the previous ones. But before I give you my whole opinion, here's a synopsis:

"Austin Conrad has never taken his personal life seriously. As a Navy SEAL, he spends all of his time in dangerous, life-threatening situations. He’s too much of a playboy to settle down; even if he did find a woman he could stand to be around for more than one night, he would never taint her life with the demons of his past.

When his best friend and SEAL team member, Brady Marshall asks him to keep an eye on his baby sister, Gwen, Austin figures it will be a walk in the park. Austin never expects that the single mom and her little girl will be the ones getting under his skin.

Gwen Stratford knows all too well about living in a nightmare. After taking her daughter and fleeing from her abusive husband in the middle of the night several months ago, she’s worked hard to get her life back on track and forget about the man who tried to break her. Growing up under the iron thumb of her parents and then moving right on with a man who ruled their marriage with his fists, Gwen is finally able to breathe and live her life the way she wants.

When scary, mysterious things begin to happen to Gwen and her daughter, she realizes you can never outrun your past; it always has a way of catching up with you. As she struggles with the desire to keep her newfound independence, she knows she won’t be able to protect herself and her child alone. She’ll need to lean on the one man who drives her crazy."

The story doesn't disappoint, it's a bit darker tan the others because both Gwen and Austin have difficult pasts, and then there's Emma (Gwen's daughter) in the middle of this ugly situation. More or less like in the other books we have the guy trying to protect the woman, the incontrolable attraction between them, the caving in, the man screwing everything up and the kidnapping. Somebody always ends up in the hospital and that someone is (if you haven't guessed yet...) the woman in question.

I don't know if the fact that I didn't like this book as much as the rest is because it's more of the same or if it's because of the way it developed. Still, it doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it. It's witty and intense and so sweet you might get cavities if you aren't careful.

I'm hoping the fourth (and last) book takes me back to how things where in the beginning. We won't know until August so I'll be continuing down the huge list of books I have in my to-read pile!!!!!

Out of The Shallows (Into The Deep #2) by Samantha Young

LIVE YOUNG. LIVE HARD. LOVE DEEP.

What to say about this book??? In the beginning I thought: well, whatever happens between Charlie and Jake they will end up together in the end. But as I delved into the book I started to have doubts. I wasn’t so sure of the happy ending… and the end… well It wasn’t what I expected… It was better!

But lets start with the beginning. Like the previous book, this story is told in two different time lines, one starts right after the end of Into The Deep, where Jake and Charlie are starting to date again in Edinburgh; and the other is six months after, where they are no longer together. We know something happened with Charlie´s sister but we don´t know exactly what.

In this book we see Charlie struggles between what she wants out of her life and what her parents want for her. They are not only against her relationship with Jake, but also they don´t want her to become a cop, which was always her dream. Back in Edinburgh we see Charlie standing up against her parents, and fighting for what she wants. But when we go six monthss forward, we find a different Charlie, a Charlie who is scared and who gave everything up in order to make her family happy, even at the cost of her own happiness.

“Somewhere along the way I think people got the wrong impression about me. I think I got the wrong impression about me. (…) I think people think I´m this fearless, brave, independent young woman who couldn´t give a shit what other people think. I really couldn´t give a shit what other people think. But I care what my parents think of me. And I´m afraid of losing them”

Jake, what can I say about him??? I admit I have my doubts about him on Into the Deep, but in this book he completely redeems himself. He understands Charlie in a way no one else does, and he is there for her no matter what, giving her what she needs even if is not what he wants.

“Jake tugged me, forcefully, pulling me around so I stumbled into his chest. His lips crashed down on mine, his kiss hungry, desperate, angry… For a moment I forgot everything else but the hard pressure of his mouth on mine, the smell of his cologne, the feel of his body. I was surrounded. Drowning. And I let it happen”

There is a second love story, Claudia's and Beck´s. In this book we find a totally different Beck, now he is determined to have her, but can she really let herself love him? Can she trust him? This is a great couple, the way they are there for each other in the difficult times, it´s moving.

This book is about Charlie mostly, and the way she tries to find balance in her life. She can´t be happy without her family or without Jake, or the possibility of pursuing her dream. Personally, I really hate the way her family treats her, I get that she is young and they want the best for her, but making her choose is just wrong. They never really support her.

If you read Into The Deep you must read Out Of The Shallows! And if you didn´t read it, I think you should do it before you read this one. This book make me suffer, Samantha Young has a way of wiriting that makes you feel what the character is feeling, but it´s totally worth it. It´s a great book, an excellent end to this story, and ending that feels real. I totally recommended Out Of The Shallows!!

“it´s not about going back. It was never about going back. It was about doing something, anything, but standing still. (…)  It´s about moving forward and growing up. It sucks at first, but it gets better.

Because of you -- by Tara Sivec

17281845

"Because of You" is the second book of the series Playing with Fire by Tara Sivec. I already did a post on the first book "A Beautiful Lie". Here's the synopsis you can find on goodreads:

"Brady Marshall follows military protocol to a T, but it still results in the death of an entire team of Navy SEALS and puts his best friends directly in harm's way. He’s struggled not to drown in grief, guilt, and booze, but he's losing that battle quickly. When his baby sister flees her abusive husband and shows up on his doorstep with his 6 year-old niece in tow, he has no choice but to clean up his act. He will stop at nothing to protect them and never let them down again, even if it means taking a job that goes against everything he believes in. If protecting a pop star princess who thinks she's better than everyone means he can keep a roof over their head, what other choice does he have?
Layla Carlysle has lived a life of luxury. She's been a star since the young age of fifteen, and every record she releases shoots straight to the top of the charts. She has people surrounding her every single day telling her how amazing she is, how lucky she is, but she wants nothing more than to break free and do what she really wants to do: write her own music, sing her own songs, and find a way to finally be happy with her life. The only thing standing in her way is her mother, Eve Carlysle. Eve has controlled every single aspect of her daughter’s life and will stop at nothing to achieve fame and fortune. When an overly-amorous fan’s letters become increasingly more sinister, Brady will have to suck up his opinion of how the other half lives to take the job seriously. The pair will need to learn to trust each other and put aside their differences before the letters become a reality and someone’s life is in jeopardy."

We'll that summary says it all... this book is filled with action, mystery and passion. In the beginning the are both judgemental and think the worst of each other, but the attraction is undeniable.

When Brady sees the way Eve treats Layla when nobody else is around, he is shocked beyond words. He can't understand why Layla let's her own mother treat her like that. Then he starts seeing Layla's true colors and he is completely baffled: he's smitten with the real Layla, she is strong, funny, beautiful and self-confident, so why won't she stand up for herself???

Layla, on the other hand, sees Brady as a dark character. She believes her mother hired him just for show, and it's the truth, but what none of them realized is that he always takes his job seriously and she doesn't see why he keeps his distance from her.

After an attemped kidnapping where Brady saves Layla, they can't keep denying their feelings and things start getting hot... but it's not ment to be just yet. It'll take a litlle bit more of a push and pull for them to understand why the other is so important. After panty dropping sex in Brady's truck they become unstoppable. However, as always things get complicated and one of them has to behave like an ass... and yes, it's Brady. We understand why he does it, but in the process he causes more damage than both their hearts can hold.

Finally, we discover the truth behind the stalker and Brady saves Layla from what would have been a terrible death... but when she is recovering in the hospital he chickens out and Layla has to face all of that trauma alone. It'll take nearly four months for Brady to pull his head from between his legs.

"I don't care if we come from two different worlds or two different planets. I love you, Layla. If you let me, I will spend the rest of my life showing you just how much, every single day. Please tell me it's not too late. Tell me I didn'g fuck everything up with you"

Let's just say, I loved this book just as much as the first if not more. The next book in the series is called "Worn me Down" and is next in my list so you'll be seeing a post soon enough. And for all of you who don't know the fourth and last book comes out in August so we don't have to wait long!!!!!

Easy by Tammara Webber

easy

Rescued by a stranger.
Haunted by a secret
Sometimes, love isn’t easy…

He watched her, but never knew her. Until thanks to a chance encounter, he became her savior…
The attraction between them was undeniable. Yet the past he’d worked so hard to overcome, and the future she’d put so much faith in, threatened to tear them apart.
Only together could they fight the pain and guilt, face the truth—and find the unexpected power of love.
A groundbreaking novel in the New Adult genre, Easy faces one girl's struggle to regain the trust she's lost, find the inner strength to fight back against an attacker, and accept the peace she finds in the arms of a secretive boy

This book is one of my personal favorites. It is the story about Jacqueline,  she is a college student who gives up her dream of becoming a musician, to follow Kennedy, her high school boyfriend to college. But he breaks up with her very soon. In this book we see how she grows, she finds out who she is without the pressure of being a perfect girlfriend, and how she falls in love again.

This is when she meets Lucas: she was leaving a party early when one of Kennedy´s friends tries to rape her. Fortunately, Lucas was there to save her. And from this moment on she starts seeing him everywhere. Lucas is the complete opposite of her ex-boyfriend. With his bike and tattoos he looks like a bad boy and she immediately feels attracted to him .

Later, she finds out he is in her economy class, which she is failing by the way, she sees him working at Starbucks, and they start to get to know each other. Jacqueline also starts e-mailing Landon, her economy tutor. And, though she never met him, there is an undeniable chemistry between them.

In this book, we also see Lucas growing up. In order to have a future with Jacqueline he has to put his past behind and learn to trust her and let her in.

This book  approaches a difficult subject: rape. We see how girls have to deal with that and how the guys in the fraternity cover each other.

It´s a beautiful love story, where it is imposibble not to fall in love with the hero. We highly recommend it!

Then Came Alexandra by E.L. Todd

The story starts when Alexandra, the protagonist, decides to leave New York and start over in a new place. She broke up with her boyfriend, Paul, because he had cheated on her, but we can see that that is not the only reason she needs a change. She is a nurse and something happened to her, some incident on the hospital.

“She could never tell anyone what happened. It was a secret she´d take to the grave.”

So she goes to Savannah, Georgia, and to stay with her aunt Martha, a cotton Grower. There she starts over at university, deciding be a writer because it´s “safer” she chooses an English major.

One day, her aunt hurts her back, and a friend of the family comes to help her with the fields. This is when we meet Blaise and an undeniable attraction starts between them.

Blaise has his own problems, he is a 24 years old man who has to take care of the family business “Cunnings Cotton” when his parents die. He struggles between keeping his family legacy running and pursueing his dream: to become a lawyer. Also he is dealing with his ex girlfriend who doesn´t accept that the relationship is over. He wants to find a woman that wants him because of him and not because of his money and his “abilities” ( his words not mine!!). He is a little vain:

“I just – I feel like girls want to sleep with me because of my abilities and my money, not for who I am”

They start dating and quickly fall in love.

“You are my everything Alexandra. You´re everything to me”

It´s a beautiful love story, some moments and some dialogs are a bit corny, but not in a bad way. The characters are real, not perfect, they have flaw and fears that make them easy for the reader  to relate to. It´s a short book, and it finishes way too soon. The plot is a little predictable but that doesn´t stop you from enjoying the ride. Towards the end the story becomes more interesting.

We really enjoyed this book. It's charming and captivating and sweet. And let's not forget, hot as hell. We are team Blaise all the way. There's something about Paul we don't like and we think he's lying.

It´s important to say that this book is part of the Southern Love series, and it does not end in this book, the finale is totally open and will leave you with the need to keep reading. We must admit we can't wait for the next one... we need to know what happens :)

ImageImage This is the story about Ian Foster and Cela Medina. We first met Foster as Master Ian on Still into You (Loving on the Edge #1.5), and Cela is Andre´s sister (Melt into You -Loving on the Edge #2-).

Cela has her life all planned: first be a good student and become a vet, then move back to her home town to work in her father´s clinic. But on the night of her graduation everything changes when she decides to go out with her hot neighbours, Foster and Pike.

All starts with a  Never Have I Ever game, but quickly it becomes something else. Althougt she likes both guys, Foster and his dominance is who really attracts her. Foster, on the other side, is afraid of getting close to her, and being hurt again. And he also doesn´t want to bring her into his BDSM world.
“I don´t trust myself with you. Even when I was trying to be gentle with you the other night, I pinned you down, corrected you, was rougher than I intended. I can help myself. The dark part of me sees that innocence in you, that sweet yielding, and foams at the mouth, makes me wants to capture it for myself, to own it.”
So you´re a little kinky. What ever. Big deal.”

As the story goes on we can see the comings and goings of this couple and how they struggle to stay together. Also we witness the way they deal with personal issues: Cela´s overprotective father and Foster missing sister. Image

One of the great things of this book is that we get to see the other character of Loving on the Edge, such as Jace, Andre and Evan. There is a hilarious scene when Cela asks her brother to take her to The Ranch.

“-All right big brother, I´m ready. Time to get your baby sister into the den of iniquity
-Ay, dios mío. I´m so going straight to hell”

Kade and Wyatt also make an appearance. Foster´s best friend, Pike, is a great character, and we really hope he gets his own book eventually!!! We´d love to hear more from him!!

We highly recommended this book! As usual, Roni amazes us with a great  story and clever dialogues that definitely will leave you with a need of more! Luckly this series has other books already out, and in November this Not Until You series it´s going to be published in one book, where you can read the complete novel.

INTO THE DEEP - Samantha Young

While we are waiting for Fall from India Place (On Dublin Street #4), we bring you another book of Samantha Young: Into the Deep.

Live young. Live hard. Love deep.

into the deep

The main characters in this book are Charlie and Jake. The story is told in Charlie's POV, and starts when she and her best friend, Claudia, are studying abroad, spending the semester in Edinburgh. This is where she meets with Jacob Caplin again (he was her highschool boyfriend).

We know that they used to date and they were deeply in love but then something happened and they broke up, breaking Charlie´s heart in the process. Until the end of the book we don´t know exactly what happened because Samantha tells us this story simultaneously in two times, one chapter in the past, telling us how they met back in Indiana; and another in the present, where we see their reunion in Edinburgh.

They met again at a party Charlie and Claudia were invited to by another American guy, Beck, who turns out to be Jake´s best friend.

“Everyone disappeared around me as we locked eyes for the first time in years. The music dulled to a throb, the conversation to a muffled buzz, and all I could hear was my heartbeat.”

Charlie has a hard time when she sees Jake, she remembers all the pain from the past and how hard it was for her to move. Whatever happened between them changed her, she never was the same again. Maybe it is because we only have her side of the story, but it was harder to get Jake. The first we learn about him is how much he means to Charlie, because even after all this time she never really could get over him. We also learn that he knew there was a big chance Charlie was in Edinburgh, because she always wanted to go there. The thing is, he didn´t come alone! Yes! He has a girlfriend, and that brings Charlie more distress. Why is he in Edinburgh?? To get Charlie back?? To apologize??? Maybe in the beginning of the book he didn´t even know the answer himself.

We really like this book, it´s a great story, but you shoud know that it does not finish here... it´s not a stand alone book, there is a sequel: Out of the Shallows , where we will see how Charlie and Jake´s story continues. And we hope there will be more about Claudia and Beck: in this first book they become friends because Beck said he is not a one-woman kind of guy, but there is obviously attraction between them, and we are really looking forward to seeing what is going to happen!

If you like Samantha Young´s book, you definitely have to read this one!!! Shortly we will be posting a review about Into the Deep #2, Out of the Shallows.

A Beautiful Lie by Tara Sivec

Tara again amazes me with her wit.

After reading her Chocolate Lovers series I decided to start with Playing With Fire.
What can I say?? A Beautiful Lie y full of intrigue and drama, with the right addition of passion and investigative work. There was never a moment where I got bored or it got tedius.
I highly recommend it.
And don't miss the Chocolate Lovers series... you won't be able to stop laughing.
(These books have sexual content)

Our beloved author Samantha Young  declare that there will be a fifth book of the On Dublin St saga!! This book is going to be about Cole, Johanna Walker´s younger brother. We met him in Down London Road the second book of this series, as a teenager. Samantha said
