Burned of Tara Sivec

Seventeen years old when he broke my heart.

Seventeen days later when another picked up the pieces.
Seventeen years together.
Seventeen thousand problems.
Seventeen days of reliving my past and finding a new future.
Seventeen minutes until it all went up in flames.
Seventeen breaths until I took my last.
This is my story…and it’s going to burn.

I think if you look up in the dictionary the word “hot” this book should appear! This is a love story that will actually burn you!!!

After Collin McDaniels broke Finnley´s heart in senior year of high school, she met Jordan Castillo, the tipical bad boy and soon they started dating. She held off her dream of going to art school and stayed with him to build a life together. But things didn´t went
as she spected... Jordan always dreamed of becoming a tattoo artist and despite being talented he never could make it. He became an addict, first to gambling, then pain killers, alcohol, cocaine… he always promised her that he would change and Finnley gave him another chance, but one day she just had enough and she asked for a divorce. This is how the story begins…

“I looked at him, this man who had been my whole world for seventeen years, thought about all of our ups and downs and everything we´d been through together and I felt nothing. I wasn´t sad, I wasn´t angry, I wasn’t hurt… I was nothing. I was empty”

One night, Finnley goes out with her best friend Phina and there he is!!! In that bar was Collin McDaniels, no longer a teenage boy but a smoking hot fireman. And, instantly, the fire between them starts to burn.

This is a beautiful love story, and did I mention that it is very sexy and hot??? Very very very hot, you should read it next to a fire extinguisher because you can literally go up in flames. I love the fact that it´s written from Finnley and Collin´s POV. The only bad thing I could think of is that it´s a little short.

It´s the first book of the Ignite Triology and the next one will be Branded and it´s expected to be out in September .

Worn Me Down by Tara Sivec

Worn Me Down (Playing with Fire, #3)

Okay, so this is book #3 of the Playing With Fire series by Tara Sivec. I have to say I liked this book, but not as much as the previous ones. But before I give you my whole opinion, here's a synopsis:

"Austin Conrad has never taken his personal life seriously. As a Navy SEAL, he spends all of his time in dangerous, life-threatening situations. He’s too much of a playboy to settle down; even if he did find a woman he could stand to be around for more than one night, he would never taint her life with the demons of his past.

When his best friend and SEAL team member, Brady Marshall asks him to keep an eye on his baby sister, Gwen, Austin figures it will be a walk in the park. Austin never expects that the single mom and her little girl will be the ones getting under his skin.

Gwen Stratford knows all too well about living in a nightmare. After taking her daughter and fleeing from her abusive husband in the middle of the night several months ago, she’s worked hard to get her life back on track and forget about the man who tried to break her. Growing up under the iron thumb of her parents and then moving right on with a man who ruled their marriage with his fists, Gwen is finally able to breathe and live her life the way she wants.

When scary, mysterious things begin to happen to Gwen and her daughter, she realizes you can never outrun your past; it always has a way of catching up with you. As she struggles with the desire to keep her newfound independence, she knows she won’t be able to protect herself and her child alone. She’ll need to lean on the one man who drives her crazy."

The story doesn't disappoint, it's a bit darker tan the others because both Gwen and Austin have difficult pasts, and then there's Emma (Gwen's daughter) in the middle of this ugly situation. More or less like in the other books we have the guy trying to protect the woman, the incontrolable attraction between them, the caving in, the man screwing everything up and the kidnapping. Somebody always ends up in the hospital and that someone is (if you haven't guessed yet...) the woman in question.

I don't know if the fact that I didn't like this book as much as the rest is because it's more of the same or if it's because of the way it developed. Still, it doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it. It's witty and intense and so sweet you might get cavities if you aren't careful.

I'm hoping the fourth (and last) book takes me back to how things where in the beginning. We won't know until August so I'll be continuing down the huge list of books I have in my to-read pile!!!!!

Because of you -- by Tara Sivec

17281845

"Because of You" is the second book of the series Playing with Fire by Tara Sivec. I already did a post on the first book "A Beautiful Lie". Here's the synopsis you can find on goodreads:

"Brady Marshall follows military protocol to a T, but it still results in the death of an entire team of Navy SEALS and puts his best friends directly in harm's way. He’s struggled not to drown in grief, guilt, and booze, but he's losing that battle quickly. When his baby sister flees her abusive husband and shows up on his doorstep with his 6 year-old niece in tow, he has no choice but to clean up his act. He will stop at nothing to protect them and never let them down again, even if it means taking a job that goes against everything he believes in. If protecting a pop star princess who thinks she's better than everyone means he can keep a roof over their head, what other choice does he have?
Layla Carlysle has lived a life of luxury. She's been a star since the young age of fifteen, and every record she releases shoots straight to the top of the charts. She has people surrounding her every single day telling her how amazing she is, how lucky she is, but she wants nothing more than to break free and do what she really wants to do: write her own music, sing her own songs, and find a way to finally be happy with her life. The only thing standing in her way is her mother, Eve Carlysle. Eve has controlled every single aspect of her daughter’s life and will stop at nothing to achieve fame and fortune. When an overly-amorous fan’s letters become increasingly more sinister, Brady will have to suck up his opinion of how the other half lives to take the job seriously. The pair will need to learn to trust each other and put aside their differences before the letters become a reality and someone’s life is in jeopardy."

We'll that summary says it all... this book is filled with action, mystery and passion. In the beginning the are both judgemental and think the worst of each other, but the attraction is undeniable.

When Brady sees the way Eve treats Layla when nobody else is around, he is shocked beyond words. He can't understand why Layla let's her own mother treat her like that. Then he starts seeing Layla's true colors and he is completely baffled: he's smitten with the real Layla, she is strong, funny, beautiful and self-confident, so why won't she stand up for herself???

Layla, on the other hand, sees Brady as a dark character. She believes her mother hired him just for show, and it's the truth, but what none of them realized is that he always takes his job seriously and she doesn't see why he keeps his distance from her.

After an attemped kidnapping where Brady saves Layla, they can't keep denying their feelings and things start getting hot... but it's not ment to be just yet. It'll take a litlle bit more of a push and pull for them to understand why the other is so important. After panty dropping sex in Brady's truck they become unstoppable. However, as always things get complicated and one of them has to behave like an ass... and yes, it's Brady. We understand why he does it, but in the process he causes more damage than both their hearts can hold.

Finally, we discover the truth behind the stalker and Brady saves Layla from what would have been a terrible death... but when she is recovering in the hospital he chickens out and Layla has to face all of that trauma alone. It'll take nearly four months for Brady to pull his head from between his legs.

"I don't care if we come from two different worlds or two different planets. I love you, Layla. If you let me, I will spend the rest of my life showing you just how much, every single day. Please tell me it's not too late. Tell me I didn'g fuck everything up with you"

Let's just say, I loved this book just as much as the first if not more. The next book in the series is called "Worn me Down" and is next in my list so you'll be seeing a post soon enough. And for all of you who don't know the fourth and last book comes out in August so we don't have to wait long!!!!!

A Beautiful Lie by Tara Sivec

16085614

Tara again amazes me with her wit.

After reading her Chocolate Lovers series I decided to start with Playing With Fire.
What can I say?? A Beautiful Lie y full of intrigue and drama, with the right addition of passion and investigative work. There was never a moment where I got bored or it got tedius.
I highly recommend it.
And don't miss the Chocolate Lovers series... you won't be able to stop laughing.
(These books have sexual content)
